Entertainment and promotional marketing: A pairing that normally reminds us of being forced to eat Hulk-colored Taco Bell at gunpoint while Rihanna sings something about love and Go-Bots in the background will, on occasion, produce something worth looking at. Call it a miracle or call it people actually putting more than two-seconds effort into their jobs, but sometimes, entertainment marketing can produce some beautiful and engaging pieces. Want proof? Check out some of the pretty promotional work done for these recent entertainment properties.
1. Great Gatsby Movie Blog Giveaway
Luxury and materialism are a big part of The Great Gatsby, and these promotions for the just-released movie absolutely embrace and capitalize on those themes. The items were given to several movie review blogs for use in giveaway contests to hype the movie. All of them are pretty cool, but I think my favorite is the Art Deco Perfume Bottle (pictured below).
You can see the rest of the Gatsby Promotions, including some nice T-shirts and a decanter and rocks-glass set, on Cinema Blend.
2. Barney’s Lichtenstein Gear
GQ recently reported that fashion retailer Barney’s will be selling merchandise decorated with artwork from famous pop-artist Roy Lichtenstein. Granted they’re not quite promotional products, but tell me this isn’t a killer design for a tote bag:
See the rest of the Lichtenstein gear at Barneys.com. (Don’t miss the paper cups and shot glasses!)
3. New Rock Music Tees
Rock Music and merchandising go so well together, they’re basically the peanut-butter-and-jelly of entertainment marketing. (Two opposite things that, through some kind of mysterious kismet, combine to form a delicious and somewhat-nutritive staple for the youths of the world.) Also, awesome T-shirts. Tons and tons of awesome T-shirts. Here’s one from the Cold War Kids’ previous album:
Here’s another for Alkaline Trio’s latest, plus some cool collector’s vinyls and a band logo patch:
Thanks for reading guys, and see you all next week!
